Polar Bear Habitat

A must visit in Cochrane! The Polar Bear Habitat is dedicated to setting the highest standards for the conservation, care and well-being of polar bears.
Polar Bear Habitat

Dedicated to polar bear care

The Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat is the largest, and only, facility in the world dedicated purely to the care of polar bears. It is dedicated to setting the highest standards for the conservation, care and well-being of polar bears. Currently the home of Ganuk, Henry and Inukshuk, the Habitat is world renowned for its ability to lengthen the lives of polar bears in captivity, while providing them environments as close as possible to their natural habitat.

Find it in Cochrane

Located just 250 kilometres south of the most southern point of the polar bears natural range, we offer a home for polar bears that is as close to the wild as the human care setting will allow. They have the freedom to explore over 24 acres of enclosures that feature subarctic, boreal forest, a spring fed lake and large array of man-made enrichment activities. Our bears determine when and where they explore, swim, play, eat, and sleep.

Experiences

Are you looking for a unique perspective during your next visit to The Habitat? Check out the website to see all experiences offered. As always, we cannot guarantee the behaviour of the bears during these sessions, but can guarantee you a safe, immersive and once in a lifetime experience.
