Dedicated to polar bear care
The Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat is the largest, and only, facility in the world dedicated purely to the care of polar bears. It is dedicated to setting the highest standards for the conservation, care and well-being of polar bears. Currently the home of Ganuk, Henry and Inukshuk, the Habitat is world renowned for its ability to lengthen the lives of polar bears in captivity, while providing them environments as close as possible to their natural habitat.
Find it in Cochrane
Located just 250 kilometres south of the most southern point of the polar bears natural range, we offer a home for polar bears that is as close to the wild as the human care setting will allow. They have the freedom to explore over 24 acres of enclosures that feature subarctic, boreal forest, a spring fed lake and large array of man-made enrichment activities. Our bears determine when and where they explore, swim, play, eat, and sleep.
