It has come to our attention that businesses from out of town are going door to door in our community to sell products and services without a valid pedlar’s licence. As a reminder, all individuals or businesses conducting door-to-door sales within our jurisdiction are legally required to obtain a pedlar’s licence from the municipality.

Please be aware of the following:

1. Verification of Licence: Residents are encouraged to ask door-to-door sales representatives for proof of their pedlar’s licence. Licensed sellers should carry and display their permit upon request.
2. Protection Against Fraud: Licencing helps ensure that sales agents meet local standards, protecting residents from potential scams or misleading sales tactics.
3. Reporting Suspicious Activity: If you encounter any door-to-door sales representatives who cannot provide a licence, please report the incident to municipal office at (705) 272-4361.

At this time, if you have any individuals visiting your homes claiming to be affiliated with the Cochrane Fire Department and offering “free fire blankets”, kindly report it.
