Hunger Action Month

WHEREAS hunger and food insecurity remain serious issue affecting individuals and families across Canada, including right here in the Town of Cochrane;

AND WHEREAS Food Banks Canada and its network of partners have designated September as Hunger Action Month, a time to raise awareness and inspire collective action to end hunger in our communities;

AND WHEREAS more people than ever are turning to food banks for support, and the need for community involvement – whether through time, food, or financial contributions – has never been greater;

AND WHEREAS food insecurity affects people from all backgrounds, including children, seniors, and working families, and addressing it requires the shared efforts of individuals, organizations, and governments;

AND WHEREAS the Cochrane Food Bank plays a vital role in supporting residents in need by providing access to nutritious food and essential services year-round;

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor Peter Politis, do hereby proclaim the Month of September as Hunger Action Month in the Corporation of the Town of Cochrane. The Town of Cochrane urge all residents to join the fight against hunger by donating non-perishable food items, offering financial support, or volunteering their time to help ensure in our community goes without.

Let us stand together to create a strong, more compassionate, and food-secure Cochrane.
