Notice of Intended Closing & Transfer

THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF COCHRANE

NOTICE OF INTENT TO CLOSE PORTION OF UNOPENED ROAD ALLOWANCE AND DISPOSE OF SURPLUS MUNICIPAL LANDS

WHEREAS pursuant to section 270 of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Cochrane (the “Town”) passed By-law No. 1502-2022, being a by-law to establish a policy and procedure with respect to the management and the sale and other disposition of municipal land, among other things;

AND WHEREAS pursuant to By-law No. 1502-2022, the Council of the Town passed Resolution No. 2025-361 at its regular meeting on October 14, 2025 that Council approve Option 1 of the Closed Meeting report 2025-144.

TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to By-law No. 1502-2022, the Council of the Town intends to stop up and close a portion of unopened road allowance more particularly described below:

Portion of unopened road allowance constituting of Railway Street, to the abutting landowner of 1 Boisvert Crescent, legally described as Lot 580, M114NB.

That it is the intent of the Council of the Town to sell the Subject Lands, deemed surplus municipal lands, to the abutting landowner of lands municipally known as 1 Boisvert Crescent and legally described as Lot 580, M114NB based on the offer presented.

That Council of the Town will consider a By-law with respect to the above-noted matter at its regular meeting to be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, in the Town Hall, Council Chambers, 171 Fourth Avenue, Cochrane, Ontario.  A copy of the proposed By-law and sketch of the Subject Lands will be made available at the municipal office or on the municipal website at www.cochraneontario.com under “Notices”.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUBJECT LANDS

The Subject Lands are designated Residential Neighbourhood Area in the Cochrane and Suburban Planning Area Official Plan. The Subject Lands are zoned Residential First Density (R1) within Zoning By-law 968-2013.

The lands are irregular in shape. The approximate size of lands requested to be purchased is: 408.77 square metres (4,400 square feet).

Fifth Street will be closed  from intersection of 7th to 8th Avenue 

and east side of 9th to 11th Avenue

from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm
