Garbage Pickup Notice

Minor changes need to be made to the collection of garbage
March 4, 2025

The Corporation of the Town of Cochrane

Notice to the Residents of Cochrane - Garbage Pickup

The Town of Cochrane is invested in the quick, efficient collection of garbage and recycling on the designated days.  Infrastructure Services has identified that some minor changes need to be made to the collection of garbage to ensure efficient service.

Therefore, the following changes are effective immediately:

  • Overfull garbage or recycle bins or bins where the lid is not completely closed, will no longer be collected.
  • If for some reason, you have additional garbage, you will require one or more “bag tags” for your additional garbage. Bag tags may be purchased at the Town Office for $1.60 each.
  • Untagged garbage bags that have been left on the side of the street will not be collected.
  • Garbage and Recycling bins that have been painted, will not be collected.
  • Abusive language directed at collection staff or objects thrown at the garbage truck will not be tolerated, in accordance with the Town’s Respect and Responsibility (Rzone) Policy.

In accordance with the policy on garbage collection, all recycling and garbage bins must be at the curb for 7:00am on their respective collection day and removed from the curb once the garbage is collected that day.  If a garbage bin is left out overnight and is obstructing snow removal, the Town of Cochrane will not be held responsible for any damage.  The cost of a replacement garbage bin shall be the responsibility of the owner.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
