Job Summary

To assist staff of a designated program in a childcare setting with the general supervision of the children participating in the preparation and implementation of the day-to-day activities of the program, following the philosophy, program statement and guidelines established by the Centre.

 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, with additional courses in the field of Early Childhood Education considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Criminal Reference Check is required
  • The ability to communicate in a pleasant, tactful manner with children, parents, and staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French
  • CPR, First Aid and WHMIS training are definite assets
Requirements & Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain positive daily communication with children, families, staff and community contacts.
  • Always supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children in their daily routine, being alert to the needs of the children as individuals and as a group, treating all children with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the childcare Centre and confidentiality of all clienteles.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the program and the childcare environment in accordance with the policies, procedures, program statement and the philosophy of the Centre under the direction of the Teacher, ensuring that guiding pedagogical documents are followed.
  • Assumes an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Responsible for reporting concerns to the Supervisor and working cooperatively with all staff members.
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, training programs and assisting with special events planned by the Centre as required.
  • Other duties related to the position as assigned.
