Job Description

As a member of the Guest Services Team, you will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to all guests of the Polar Bear Habitat. This position requires the ideal candidate to be the first point of contact for guests, with a positive attitude, they will provide information on the facility, sell daily or annual admission passes and gift shop items, and answer questions about the bears and the organization. As a major tourist destination, you may also be required to answer questions about the community and surrounding area. Other duties include guest correspondence through phone or email, upkeep of the gift shop and basic janitorial work.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong customer service/retail experience is essential
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively in English is required, in French would be an asset.
  • Hospitality/tourism experience would be an asset
  • Ability to work weekdays and weekends
  • First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain
  • Valid criminal records check
Requirements & Responsibilities
  • Operation of POS system including sales and daily reports
  • Guest interactions including providing information about the bears and the facility
  • Guest correspondence through phone, email, and social media
  • Assisting the Guest Services Team Leader with intake of giftshop stock and visual merchandising.
  • Operating a golf cart in the summer months for guests with mobility issues
  • Janitorial duties including sweeping, mopping, surface cleaning and snow removal
  • Knowledge of, or desire to learn about, polar bears, climate change and the Cochrane community and surrounding area
