Job Description

We are looking for a mature individual that is adaptable and able to work in varying work conditions. The successful incumbent will work in both the Community Services & Infrastructure Services departments as either a Facility Operator or Heavy Equipment Operator, respectfully.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • 2 years’ experience in facility/grounds maintenance and/or Heavy Equipment operations or equivalent.
  • Any Trades Certificate or Seal would be an asset.
  • Training in WIMIS, First Aid, and CPR required.
  • DZ drivers licence, or willing to obtain within the first 6 months
  • The ability to communicate effectively in both official languages, French and English, is a definite asset.
  • Valid Criminal Record Check
Requirements & Responsibilities

As a Facility Operator, your duties include performing custodial functions; building and equipment maintenance and minor repairs; ice and pool maintenance; responding appropriately and promptly to queries and problems; building opening and closing functions; ensuring facility cleanliness and safety at all times for all users and providing exceptional customer service related to all municipal facilities.

As a Heavy Equipment Operator & Maintenance, your duties include operating small equipment, light duty vehicles, heavy duty vehicles and heavy equipment, general labourer duties on occasion, general maintenance duties, project management of assigned activities and Occupational Health and Safety Act compliance in the workplace for self and fellow workers.  The position is responsible to maintain open and effective communication with field supervisors as assigned (Coordinator) Infrastructure Supervisor and the Director of Infrastructure Services.

The above represents only a brief description of the general requirements for the position.  It is expected that the successful candidate will enrol and succeed in annual professional development courses outlined by the department Director to continually develop skills and knowledge.
